Un secretary-general gets new crown vaccine in New York

The UN Secretary General, Gutterres, has just received his first dose of the new vaccine at a school not far from the UN headquarters in New York. He then posted a message on social media expressing gratitude for the vaccination and urging the international community to ensure that the new crown vaccine is equitably available to all.

The 71-year-old Gutterres did not receive any “Special treatment”for being the UN secretary-general. Under the New York State Government’s vaccination program, the first batch of about 7 million New Yorkers eligible for vaccination, including first-line health care workers, the elderly over 65 years old and so on. Speaking at a public event in December, Gutterres said the new crown vaccine should be a global public good, accessible and affordable for all. He encouraged everyone to get vaccinated when conditions permitted.
