WHO: Testing is still important as vaccines come to market

In her regular briefing on the novel Coronavirus, WHO Director-General Tedros Tedros said that even if novel Coronavirus vaccination were to begin, testing would remain a key tool in the fight against the novel Coronavirus.

Highlighting the important role that novel Coronavirus once played in countries where novel Coronavirus is now effectively controlled, Tedros said that testing will continue to play an important role in the introduction of novel coronavirus.

“Initially, health workers, the elderly and other high-risk groups will be prioritized for vaccination, which will still leave a lot of room for the virus to move, and testing will remain an important tool for containing the pandemic,” Tedros said.
